Parcel J is an urban luxury apartment community located in downtown New London, Connecticut. The activity of the lounge and lobby were connected to a new plaza space in order to stimulate the most identifiable and visible corner of the site. A large fourth floor terrace space also takes advantage of the dramatic views over the Thames River. The project team used the client’s desire for porches at every unit to create a varied yet connected façade that negotiated the extremely long block dimensions.
Energy efficiency and modern design come together to maximize performance and beauty in this one-story home. The home is organized to optimize views and access between the interior living spaces and the surrounding outdoors. The main living area is central to the home and celebrated with a higher ceiling making the space feel larger for gatherings. The other living spaces flow out from this central area. Working collaboratively with the pre-fab builder EcoCraft Homes, this model home design can be custom fit to homeowner needs and unique site conditions.
