Daniel Rothschild founded the firm in 1988. He has continually provided design, graphic, and communication leadership through active participation in a wide array of architecture and urban design projects.
Mr. Rothschild is recognized as a design leader able to bring together divergent interests around common design solutions that are artful, meaningful, and pragmatic.
After receiving his Bachelor of Environmental Design at Miami University, and studying at the Architectural Association in London, he pursued his Master of Architecture at North Carolina State, where he received the American Institute of Architects School Medal. It was during these studies that he committed to methodically tracking and annotating the architectural design process, capturing goals, exploring solutions, and testing intentions in a consistent graphic journal that would become the firm's Design Sketchbook Process. It is Mr. Rothschild's commitment to telling the design story that has led to the collaborative environment of the firm as well as open and continual design outcome improvements.
Mr. Rothschild has extended his leadership to the larger architectural community through his eight years of service to the American Institute of Architecture Pittsburgh chapter including the role of President, as an Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon in the Urban Lab architecture studio, and a lecturer at local universities. Mr. Rothschild is an accredited professional in the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
